The harsh truth is that employing somebody to help you with weight management, isn't automatically going to make you feel more in control of your eating and drastically slimmer, unfortunately the hard work still needs to come from you! But what it will do is ensure that the hard work and effort that you're putting in, is directed in the right way so that you can achieve lasting results, and the confidence to manage things long after our work together has ended.
In order to commit to this style of coaching, you will probably have to walk away from some of the beliefs you previously held about dieting and the best ways to lose weight. Taking stock of where you are now, realising that in the past you might have lost weight following diet plans or by joining slimming clubs, but you haven't managed to keep that weight off, and in fact they haven't served you well at all. It's time to walk away from that and start with a fresh outlook!
Embarking upon this journey is going to be an emotional rollercoaster! We have so many emotions intermingled and entwined in our relationship with food, that as we start to unpick the reasons why you reach for food, we might need to dig deep to find answers, and it's bound to stir up emotions sometimes. Combine this with the inevitability that some weeks will go brilliantly, and you will really see your progress; whilst other weeks might be challenging and might not go to plan (which is just as valuable, as there's so much to learn from them), but be ready to buckle up for the ride!
As much as you're probably eager to start losing weight, it's not going to happen right away. The first, and in many ways, most important part of our work together will be around stabilising your eating, and creating good habits that will keep your body nourished and provide a basis that will make the underlying reasons why you overeat, much easier to identify. The weight loss phase is a natural extension of this and comes later.
Once you have established those good eating habits and you have a better understanding of what's driving you towards food, and we're working hard to make changes and modify your behaviours, the weight will start to come off, and you will feel like you know your body better than ever before;. Instead of fighting against your body to try and lose weight, you'll realise that you're listening to your body and working with your body, and the feeling is so much different to where you're at now. - you'll radiate confidence, and you will feel amazing!
