Hi
I’m Sharon Heaton, and I run a combined coaching and professional services business meaning that not only do I help individuals who are struggling to manage their weight, but I also help the people who work with you - such as GPs and gym instructors, to understand what it is really like to live as a larger person, and why diet and exercise plans alone aren't enough to bring about long term changes.
The coaching element of my business is where I get to work with Individuals and families, who've often been let down by the traditional forms of help and support, and are seeking support from somebody who truly understands how it is to struggle with their weight and their relationship with food, and who can offer them a different level of support. My approach is one that views the excess body weight and associated eating habits as the symptoms of something much deeper, that needs to be examined and tackled from multiple angles.
In my work I do not offer the typical weight loss coaching that centres largely around diet and exercise goals and is aimed at clients who typically want to lose maybe 20 or 30 pounds; instead my work is focussed on specialist coaching for clients who are significantly overweight - whether that's 4 stones, 8 stones, 12 stones or more. My goal is to help where others may have failed, by helping you to understand what is happening when you reach for food, and supporting and empowering you to make lasting life-long changes.
In my coaching work, I also see families and young people, who I work with for a variety of reasons, including families where are a young person is significantly overweight, families who are concerned that an older child is showing signs of binge eating disorder, families where one or both parents are overweight and want to change things for themselves and their families, and families who feel like they would all benefit from some help and support around their relationship with food.
